The Arch Recruitment scheduling team is the heart and soul of our office. They spend their days coordinating candidates and clients to ensure everybody is happy, working, and cared for. This is what a day in their lives looks like:
They reach the office at 08:30, but four candidates have already cancelled their shifts for the day and need to be replaced immediately. Despite the time pressure, everyone on the team speaks calmly, as though they have all the time in the world to chat. It takes four phone calls to fill all four shifts, and every substitute is perfectly picked from the team's comprehensive knowledge of candidate availability.
Our team members dedicate every bit of their focus to creating a smooth experience. To do this, they wear headset phones, so the handheld phones are never actually held in hand. This leaves hands free for the constant note-taking that keeps our spreadsheets and schedules up-to-date up to the minute. That is how we match our client's needs with our candidates.
Once those urgent phone calls finish, another set begins. The conversations don't stop, but the tone changes. It becomes about more than daily work. With rosters stabilised, they start making calls to check up on our candidate's physical, emotional, and mental well-being. As one asks about a candidate's newborn, another checks on a candidate's risk of burnout. Not only does the scheduling team work hard, but they also care hard.
Support workers spend so much time caring for their clients that it becomes easy for them to forget to take care of themselves. That's why the scheduling team puts work into their relationships, building them with every call so every support worker and nurse at Arch Recruitment can be their best.
The hardest part of the job is when there aren't enough candidates to cover client needs, knowing someone is supposed to be receiving support, but we can't do anything for them. The team spends their rare moments of silence with heads buried in schedules, writing emails to plot rosters up to a month in advance to ensure they can care for everybody.
The rest of the day is spent deep in administration, following up on any and every roadblock that could stop a candidate from doing their best. Not only does the scheduling team send out calls, but they also receive countless incoming calls from our candidates and clients. Some want advice, some need to change their rosters, and all are welcomed warmly.
By the end of the day, their tongues are tied, their typing is slow, and their hearts are full. They spend every minute of their workday building connections with the people who matter most to us: Candidates in the field. Without their diligence, the Arch Recruitment team wouldn't be able to connect good people every day, the right way, for good reasons.
